New Homeowner Demands Curtains

A Reddit user had the following story about the buyer of their home showing up to their new house and serving them with court papers because they removed curtains from the house they sold. They asked about the possible outcome. They stated they told their agent.

Sadly this happens too much. Real estate agents rarely go through the details of the contract and make sure all the items the seller is taking with them are listed in the contract as not included in the sale. This is why an experienced Realtor is necessary so you don’t end up getting served with court papers.

However, the Buyer in this situation is correct that the curtains are theirs, while the way they did it is wrong. In court the most likely outcome is the buyer getting the curtains, a lawyer could give a definite answer.

Most buyers ignore removed curtains and other items but this is a great example of how a low-quality real estate agent can burn you.
